Michael Jagger and Evita Arce are full time professional dancers in New York City, and they have each been dancing for over 10 years and with each other for over 4 years. Their stage credits include being featured dancers for Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra in Let Freedom Swing, a celebration of jazz for Martin Luther King Jr. Day at the Kennedy Center earlier this year. They were again featured with J@LCO this summer for a tribute to Benny Goodman at the Rose Theater in NYC. As principle dancers, they have starred as the Lindy Hop couple in several productions of the Broadway musical Swing!, including regional productions at Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, the California Music Circus in Sacramento and the 2008 Japanese tour. They perform all over Manhattan including hot spots like The Rainbow Room, The Waldorf Astoria and The Plaza at Lincoln Center. They have numerous TV appearances, including season three of FOX's "So You Think You Can Dance," where they made it to semi-finals in Las Vegas. Other TV credits include the History Channel's celebration of the 60th anniversary of VJ Day, a national holiday spot for Shoe Carnival and an international commercial in Barcelona for Amena Cellular.
With regard to the Lindy Hop world, Michael and Evita recently took 1st place in the Cabaret Division at ILHC and have placed in several other national competitions in various divisions. They work with world renown Lindy Hoppers Ryan Francois and Jenny Thomas in their company, Swing Xtreme, and have performed at the Edinburgh Jazz Festival in Scotland and at the Lyric Theater in London's West End. They both teach regular swing classes at Dance Manhattan and have taught at several national and international dance camps including: Swing Out New Hampshire, Swing Out North West, Lindy Focus, Beantown Swing Camp, Boogie Bären and Camp Savoy.
Ultimately, Michael and Evita balance their Lindy Hop teaching and competing with their professional performance careers. Michael and Evita tour with The Vanaver Caravan, a company that incorporates clogging, modern, swing, and percussive folk dances to tell stories of America's history and different cultures. They also toured Florida with Angel Garcia's company, Tango Y Mas, an international dance troupe of different ethnicities and dance. Evita also dances for The Gehring Dance Theatre, which is a modern and contemporary company. Michael studies different styles of hip-hop and is focused "locking". They have studied many other techniques like Tango, Hustle, Lyrical, Jazz, and Tap, but despite their ventures into other disciplines, there's no question Michael and Evita at their core are Lindy Hoppers.
