Larry and Rae Mullica are favorites among the students in the Central Iowa Swing dance scene. Known for their fun and energetic approach to teaching, they have inspired many new Hepcats to continue their education about the Swing dance culture. Their history in partner dancing spans 25 years and began when Disco and the Hustle were all the rage. They have developed a passion for Swing that is demonstrated by their on-going pursuit to spread Swing awareness across the State of Iowa. In the spring of 2007, Larry and Rae founded the organization Step Into Swing. Since the organization's inception, the Mullicas have established a monthly dance, formed three dance troupes, and have developed a swing education program that introduces Swing dancing to students of all ages. Recent accomplishments include taking first in the Fast Dance Competition at the 2006 Hawkeye Swing Festival and performing as featured dancers in the Des Moines Playhouse's 2006 production of the musical Swing! Larry and Rae are known for their fun, smooth style and flair to perform. They love teaching all forms of Swing and continue to look for new and creative ways to teach and get people dancing.
