About Janie Austin
Janie

Janie Austin began dancing in 2005. She started out taking lessons in Ballroom, but quickly discovered that Swing was her true love. She dove in head first and has never stopped dancing. She now teaches classes in East Coast, Lindy Hop, and West Coast Swing weekly in her home town of Fort Smith, Arkansas with her regular dance partner Marcus Coker.
Janie brings her passion for dancing and her lighthearted spirit to the dance floor as both a follower and a teacher. Her goal is to encourage a fun and spirited environment for all those who attend classes while nurturing their love for dance.
Although she considers herself as always having room to learn and improve, her progress has been quick due to her willingness to learn, travel to workshops, compete, and generally try anything (she has performed in a pair of footed pajamas while holding a sock monkey, and she’s worn a chicken costume!). Life should be interesting and entertaining, right?
Lately, her focus has been on aerials. Her compact frame and desire for speed are a perfect match for her natural grace and need to be airborne.
